Scots College Pipe Band
2016
During the two weeks they were away they managed to combine sightseeing, practice and performing into what will be an extremely memorable trip. The tour was based in Edinburgh but in between practicing for their competitions, they managed to visit Stirling, Glasgow, Loch Ness, Lindisfarne and perform at a war veteran’s home. Their first competition was in Burntisland and it was a regional competition leading up to the Nationals. At that competition the band performed exceptionally well, winning three firsts and a third in their grade. These great results were followed up with plenty more practice and fine-tuning in the lead up to the Scottish National Championships held in Dumbarton the following weekend. In this event, the band was competing in Grade 4 against adult and school bands. They played extremely well and were rewarded with third place overall which was a great result. The Championships had over 140 bands competing and 25,000 spectators during the day. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved and a great opportunity for the band to watch some of the best bands in the world.
